Manhattan middle schools and private schools aren’t often known for creating an intimate learning environment, but York Prep takes a different approach to education. We believe that our small class sizes (about 15 students per class) allow students’ ideas to gestate and bloom and encourage students to show initiative. Small class sizes also mean that our faculty can afford to personalize their teaching methodologies for each student in order for him or her to be academically challenged and recognized for his or her efforts. Personal success is at the core of the York Prep approach to education, and it informs everything that we do.
Outside of the classroom, students receive considerable academic, social, and emotional support from the faculty and administration. Whether coaching after-school athletic activities, advising any one of our 40+ clubs, meeting with students in the Jump Start program, or putting their heart and soul into teaching the subjects that they know and love, York Prep administrators and faculty members are committed to the school in a way that transcends basic vocational demands.
The school also helps students build a framework for engaging in communities outside of York Prep by requiring community service hours on a per annum basis. Regular communication among parents, teachers, and students keeps everyone working toward the same goals. To learn more about York Prep, please contact us.
